As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of talent and luck. The aim is to move your checkers carefully around the board to your inside board and at the same time your opposition shifts their checkers toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces heading in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific strategies at particular instances. Here are the last two Backgammon tactics to round out your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the purpose of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to move their chips, the Priming Game plan is to absolutely barricade any activity of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get hit, or end up in a bad position if he/she ever tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anywhere between point 2 and point eleven in your game board. As soon as you have successfully assembled the prime to prevent the activity of your opponent, your competitor does not even get to toss the dice, that means you shift your pieces and toss the dice yet again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The aims of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game plan are very similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions in hope to boost your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game strategy utilizes alternate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game technique is often used when you’re far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this tactic, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This tactic is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are relocated is partly the result of the dice toss.
