As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and luck. The goal is to move your pieces carefully around the game board to your home board and at the same time your opponent shifts their checkers toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With competing player pieces moving in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at particular instances. Here are the 2 final Backgammon tactics to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the goal of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to move her checkers, the Priming Game strategy is to completely barricade any movement of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a damaged position if she at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anywhere between point 2 and point eleven in your game board. After you have successfully assembled the prime to block the activity of the opponent, the opponent doesn’t even get to roll the dice, that means you shift your chips and toss the dice yet again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The objectives of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions in hope to better your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game plan utilizes different techniques to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is often employed when you are far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you need to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your chips and how the chips are moved is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
