As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and luck. The aim is to shift your checkers carefully around the board to your home board and at the same time your opposing player shifts their pieces toward their home board in the opposite direction. With competing player pieces moving in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for specific techniques at specific times. Here are the two final Backgammon plans to round out your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the goal of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to shift his pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely block any movement of the opposing player by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a damaged position if he/she ever tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anywhere between point two and point 11 in your board. After you’ve successfully built the prime to block the activity of the opponent, the opponent doesn’t even get a chance to toss the dice, that means you move your chips and toss the dice yet again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to harm your opponent’s positions with hope to boost your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game tactic uses alternate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is commonly used when you are far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the chips are moved is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
