The aim of a Backgammon match is to move your chips around the game board and get those pieces from the game board faster than your challenger who works just as hard to do the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a game in Backgammon needsrequires both strategy and good luck. How far you can shift your pieces is left to the numbers from rolling a pair of dice, and how you move your chips are decided on by your overall playing strategies. Players use a number of tactics in the differing stages of a match depending on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Strategy

The goal of the Running Game technique is to bring all your checkers into your inside board and bear them off as fast as you can. This tactic concentrates on the speed of moving your checkers with no time spent to hit or stop your competitor’s pieces. The best time to employ this technique is when you believe you can shift your own chips quicker than your opposing player does: when 1) you have less checkers on the game board; 2) all your checkers have moved beyond your competitor’s pieces; or 3) the opposing player does not use the hitting or blocking plan.

The Blocking Game Tactic

The main goal of the blocking tactic, by its name, is to block your opponent’s pieces, temporarily, while not fretting about moving your chips rapidly. After you have established the blockade for your competitor’s movement with a couple of chips, you can move your other pieces quickly from the game board. The player will need to also have a clear plan when to extract and move the pieces that you employed for blocking. The game becomes interesting when your competitor utilizes the same blocking technique.
