As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of talent and pure luck. The goal is to move your chips safely around the board to your inside board while at the same time your opponent shifts their pieces toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With competing player checkers heading in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific tactics at particular instances. Here are the 2 final Backgammon tactics to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the aim of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to move her chips, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely barricade any activity of the opponent by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get hit, or result a bad position if he/she at all tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anyplace between point two and point 11 in your board. After you have successfully constructed the prime to block the movement of your competitor, your competitor doesn’t even get to roll the dice, and you move your pieces and roll the dice yet again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game plan are very similar – to hinder your opponent’s positions in hope to better your chances of winning, but the Back Game plan utilizes seperate tactics to do that. The Back Game tactic is commonly utilized when you’re far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This tactic is more complex than others to use in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your chips and how the checkers are moved is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
