The ideal time to use this strategy is when you believe you can move your own chips a lot faster than your opposition does: when 1) you have a fewer chips on the game board; 2) all your pieces have past your competitor’s chips; or 3) your opponent doesn’t use the hitting or blocking strategy.

The primary goal of the blocking tactic, by its name, is to block your competitor’s checkers, temporarily, not worrying about shifting your pieces rapidly.
