As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and luck. The aim is to move your chips safely around the game board to your home board and at the same time your opponent moves their checkers toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With opposing player checkers shifting in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the need for specific tactics at specific times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon tactics to round out your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the purpose of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to shift her chips, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely stop any movement of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get hit, or end up in a battered position if she at all tries to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anyplace between point two and point 11 in your game board. After you have successfully assembled the prime to block the movement of your competitor, your opponent does not even get a chance to toss the dice, that means you move your pieces and roll the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The objectives of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game plan are very similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions with hope to boost your odds of succeeding, however the Back Game technique relies on alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game technique is generally employed when you are far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this strategy, you need to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are relocated is partially the outcome of the dice roll.
