As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and pure luck. The aim is to shift your checkers safely around the board to your inside board and at the same time your opponent shifts their pieces toward their home board in the opposite direction. With competing player pieces moving in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at specific times. Here are the last two Backgammon plans to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the aim of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to shift her chips, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely stop any movement of the opponent by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get bumped, or end up in a damaged position if she ever attempts to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anyplace between point two and point 11 in your half of the board. Once you have successfully built the prime to prevent the movement of your competitor, your opponent does not even get to toss the dice, that means you shift your pieces and toss the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The aims of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game technique are very similar – to harm your competitor’s positions with hope to better your chances of winning, however the Back Game plan uses seperate tactics to do that. The Back Game tactic is commonly employed when you’re far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this technique, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This strategy is more difficult than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your chips and how the pieces are moved is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
