As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and good luck. The aim is to shift your checkers carefully around the game board to your home board and at the same time your opposition moves their checkers toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player pieces moving in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at particular times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon plans to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the goal of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to shift her pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely block any activity of the opponent by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a bad position if he/she at all tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your game board. After you have successfully constructed the prime to stop the activity of your opponent, the opponent does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you shift your checkers and toss the dice yet again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The goals of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game plan are similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions in hope to improve your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game strategy utilizes alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game technique is frequently used when you are far behind your opponent. To compete in Backgammon with this plan, you need to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This strategy is more complex than others to use in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your chips and how the checkers are moved is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
