The goal of a Backgammon match is to shift your chips around the game board and pull them off the board quicker than your opponent who works just as hard to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a game of Backgammon needsrequires both strategy and luck. Just how far you can move your checkers is up to the numbers from rolling the dice, and the way you shift your checkers are determined by your overall playing plans. Enthusiasts use differing techniques in the differing stages of a match based on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Plan

The goal of the Running Game strategy is to lure all your pieces into your inner board and pull them off as quick as you could. This technique focuses on the speed of advancing your chips with absolutely no efforts to hit or block your opponent’s checkers. The best scenario to use this tactic is when you believe you can move your own chips a lot faster than the opposing player does: when 1) you have a fewer checkers on the game board; 2) all your checkers have past your competitor’s chips; or 3) the opposing player doesn’t use the hitting or blocking technique.

The Blocking Game Technique

The main aim of the blocking strategy, by the title, is to stop the competitor’s chips, temporarily, not worrying about shifting your pieces rapidly. After you have established the barrier for your opponent’s movement with a couple of chips, you can shift your other checkers rapidly from the game board. You really should also have a clear plan when to back off and shift the chips that you used for the blockade. The game becomes intriguing when the opponent utilizes the same blocking strategy.
