As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of skill and good luck. The aim is to move your pieces safely around the game board to your inner board and at the same time your opposing player shifts their pieces toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With competing player pieces shifting in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for specific techniques at specific instances. Here are the two final Backgammon strategies to complete your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the goal of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to shift her pieces, the Priming Game plan is to absolutely block any activity of the opponent by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get bumped, or end up in a battered position if he at all tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anywhere between point two and point eleven in your board. As soon as you’ve successfully assembled the prime to prevent the activity of your opponent, the competitor doesn’t even get a chance to roll the dice, that means you shift your chips and toss the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The objectives of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game technique are very similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions with hope to improve your odds of succeeding, however the Back Game plan uses seperate tactics to do that. The Back Game technique is frequently utilized when you’re far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this plan, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This plan is more difficult than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your chips and how the pieces are moved is partly the result of the dice roll.
