As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of ability and pure luck. The goal is to move your chips safely around the board to your home board and at the same time your opposition shifts their chips toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With opposing player chips moving in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at specific instances. Here are the last 2 Backgammon plans to complete your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the goal of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to shift his checkers, the Priming Game strategy is to completely block any activity of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get hit, or end up in a battered position if he/she ever tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point two and point 11 in your half of the board. After you’ve successfully constructed the prime to block the movement of your opponent, the opponent does not even get a chance to toss the dice, and you shift your checkers and toss the dice yet again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The objectives of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to harm your competitor’s positions in hope to better your chances of winning, however the Back Game technique relies on alternate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game technique is commonly employed when you are far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this plan, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more complex than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your chips and how the chips are moved is partially the result of the dice toss.
