As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of ability and good luck. The aim is to move your checkers carefully around the game board to your home board and at the same time your opponent shifts their pieces toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces shifting in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific tactics at specific times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon techniques to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to move her pieces, the Priming Game plan is to completely block any activity of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get bumped, or end up in a damaged position if he/she at all tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your game board. As soon as you’ve successfully built the prime to stop the movement of the opponent, the opponent doesn’t even get to toss the dice, that means you shift your pieces and toss the dice yet again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The aims of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to harm your opponent’s positions hoping to improve your chances of winning, however the Back Game tactic uses seperate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game technique is often employed when you’re far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this tactic, you have to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are moved is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
