As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and good luck. The goal is to move your checkers safely around the game board to your inside board while at the same time your opposing player moves their pieces toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With competing player chips heading in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for particular tactics at specific times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon techniques to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the goal of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to move his pieces, the Priming Game plan is to completely stop any activity of the opposing player by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a battered position if she ever tries to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your half of the board. After you’ve successfully assembled the prime to prevent the movement of the opponent, your competitor does not even get to roll the dice, that means you shift your pieces and roll the dice yet again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game technique are similar – to harm your competitor’s positions in hope to better your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game tactic relies on alternate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game tactic is commonly used when you are far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this tactic, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This plan is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your chips and how the checkers are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice toss.
